How to wax
A solid base. The right wax. Then you’re out there. Here’s how to get your deck ready.
Choose for your water.
Your next wax job, in three steps.
-
Start fresh.
Start with a clean, dry deck. If old wax is dirty or you’re changing colours, remove it with a plastic wax scraper and clean the surface first.
-
Build the beads.
Rub Tropical / Base Coat across the areas where your feet need traction. Build an even layer of small, raised beads rather than a smooth slab. Using Warm Water on its own? Build those beads with Warm Water instead.
-
Make it yours.
For 19–26°C water, lightly work your coloured wax or Warm Water over the beads. Keep that grippy texture and check coverage before you paddle out. For 24°C+ tropical water, Tropical can be your surf wax.
More waves. Less waxing.
Our performance formulas are designed for grip across multiple sessions. Check your deck before each surf and top up when it needs it.
Ready for a new look?
Remove the wax, clean the deck and try another colour. Keep your bars and board out of direct sunlight and heat between sessions.
For surfboard use only. Not food. Keep out of reach of young children and pets. Follow your board maker’s care advice.
